Happy Tuesday! Tara here with your latest queer entertainment news roundup!
🎧 Latest episode: Money Makes a Big Difference
It’s our first episode of the year, so Kris and I had a lot of catching up to do after our Christmas vacations, including talking about her latest book baby, Dreamer.
This week, Kris officially recommends Dan Levy’s directorial debut, Good Grief. It explores the ways a man and his friends struggle with their grief after his husband dies suddenly.
I recommend Milena McKay’s sapphic romance Magdalene Nox. It’s the companion novel to one of my all-time favourite romances, The Headmistress. Make sure you’ve read that one before picking up Magdalene Nox, or some moments may not make as much sense.
While we’re at it
If you’re up for a nuanced, poignant sapphic romance with grief as a central theme, check out In the Distance There is Light by Harper Bliss. The premise sounds salacious, with a woman finding love with her stepmother-in-law after her partner dies, but I promise it’s not. It’s been years since I first read this book and I still think about it because I had such a profound reading experience.

9 queer video games to look out for this year. I’m most excited about Hades 2 and Spirit Swap. How about you? Drop it in the comments. (PinkNews)
Speaking of video games, players are flinging themselves off a cliff to get Karlach in Baldur’s Gate 3. I’m currently romancing her in the game, but I don’t remember the cliff part. If you want to romance her, make sure to recruit her to your party before going ham on the goblin encampment, so you get enough approval. (Many thanks to my friends, who knew I would love Karlach the most and made sure I didn’t miss out.) (Them)
20 Black LGBTQ artists to add to your playlist. (Pride)
Billie Jean King sent birthday wishes to Maybelle Blair, who recently turned 97. Blair was one of the character inspirations in A League of Their Own and came out as a lesbian two years ago. (Advocate)

Okay, this isn’t entertainment news, but Autostraddle posted a great article about how to support a partner or friend who’s transitioning.
Until next time,
Tara & Kris
