The SAG-AFTRA strike is over, so we’re reviewing scripted films and TV shows again! Labor rights are of the utmost importance and we would have supported the strike as long as it took, but we can’t deny we’re excited to bring you festive treats next month, too.
This week, Kris recommends the adorable film adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s gay romance Red, White & Royal Blue. A British prince and the son of the American president falling in love, plus they have super hot chemistry? Sign me UP.
I recommend the graphic novel, Flung Out of Space: Inspired by the Indecent Adventures of Patricia Highsmith, by Grace Ellis and Hannah Templer (Illustrator). It’s a fictionalized imagining of how Patricia Highsmith came to write The Price of Salt, aka Carol, and it doesn’t shy away from Highsmith’s flaws. A must-read if you’re interested in the history of sapphic fiction.
While we’re at it
If you want another story about an American falling for a member of the British Royal family, The Princess Affair by Nell Stark is adorable. It features an Irish-American Rhodes scholar and a wild child Princess in an opposites-attract romance.

🗞️ Queer entertainment news roundup
Autostraddle released what might be their most fun quiz yet: create a queer romcom and they’ll recommend an iconic Christmas film. Unfortunately, I got Love, Actually, which is one of my least favourite Christmas films ever. I’m choosing to believe Autostraddle meant the deleted lesbian scene, which is truly excellent.
Speaking of Christmas, check out this list of awesome queer YA books. They’re perfect gifts for a tween or teen in your life and I can personally vouch for Heartstopper by Alice Oseman and You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson. (INTO)
Sarah Wendell from Smart Bitches Trashy Books recently released her brilliant interview with actor Mara Wilson. I especially loved hearing Wilson talk about people who have named their kids or themselves after her or her iconic character Matilda. (Smart Podcast Trashy Books)
Bless People magazine for writing up Sarah Paulson’s latest sweet comments about her girlfriend, Holland Taylor.
These 20 celebrities have been openly supportive of their LGBTQ+ kids.
Okay, this is history and not entertainment, but did you know the Roman emperor Elagabalus was a trans woman? (Them)
