🎧 Latest episode: We got a room (at the library)
I’ve finally busted my reading slump and Kris got a room with a friend (not that kind of room, though). Content warning for 01:28 – 07:36, when Kris talks about being at the Super Bowl parade last month and the mass shooting that happened there.
This week, Kris officially recommends the science fiction thriller I.S.S. (2023). It’s about how America and Russia race to take over research on the International Space Station when nuclear war breaks out on Earth. The queer rep may be small, but it’s impactful.
I officially recommend the sapphic romcom Vengeance Planning for Amateurs by Lee Winter. A lovely muffin maker decides to get revenge after being taken advantage of by a series of bad exes. The solution? A henchperson, of course. It’s hilarious, has a beautiful romance, and the penguin on the cover will make sense when you read it. This will be one of my top books of the year.
While we’re at it
If you’re interested in more sapphic romcoms, you should check out a bunch of Clare Lydon’s books! Her London romance series has recently come to a close and many of them are romantic comedies. I’m a few books behind, but The London of Us has long been one of my favourites.
Is it a little on the nose that I love a romance with a woman figuring out she’s bisexual in her 30s? Perhaps, but I don’t care because it’s a fabulous book.
