Sapphic urban fantasy romances
Also, Japan's first gay dating show, and which Angelina Jolie character are you?
Hello, hello! Tara here, with your latest in queer entertainment news!
🎧 Latest episode: Kris and Tara write a book
Because some of you have been asking, Kris gives an update on the feral cats in her neighborhood and how she’s making black kitty and orange kitty love her. Also, we rough out a book, based on some ridiculous info from my family history.
This week, Kris recommends Virginia Black’s double-Goldie-winning debut novel, Consecrated Ground. It’s an urban fantasy with a romance, set in a world with witches, vampires, and a badass Black butch-ish lead.
I recommend Japan’s first gay dating show, The Boyfriend (Netflix). Nine men are trying to find true love while they live together and work at a coffee truck in a small seaside town. It’s VERY cute and much gentler than any other dating show on Netflix.
While we’re at it
If you want to read another sapphic urban fantasy romance with magic users, you should check out Blood Remains by Cathy Pegau. It takes place in the world of organized crime in prohibition-era Seattle, with a blood mage falling for her childhood crush.

Stacy Snyder from season 5 of Love is Blind came out as queer. For real, we need a queer version of that show, or at least for it to be more okay for contestants to be out while they’re on it. (People)
Find out which Angelina Jolie character you are. I am Lisa Rowe from Girl, Interrupted and maybe I should have seen that movie so I could have an opinion about this result.
Until next time,
Tara & Kris
Apparently, I am also Lisa Rowe - suppose I should watch it... ;)
